New Peugeot Boxer Offers More Comfort And Efficiency For Professionals With New Automatic Gearbox
Peugeot has introduced a new automatic gearbox for its large van, the Boxer, enhancing its range of light commercial vehicles (LCVs). The new eight-speed EAT8 automatic transmission, available alongside the six-speed manual option, aims to improve driving comfort, reduce driver fatigue, and boost safety. This is particularly beneficial for business users who spend long hours on the road or private owners using motorhomes for extended trips.
The Boxer’s new EAT8 gearbox is available with the 2.2 BlueHDi 140 and 180 engines, offering smoother gear changes and better torque management, with up to 450Nm available on the BlueHDi 180 engine—80Nm more than the previous manual version. This new transmission also features a hydraulic accumulator for quicker gearbox response and improved Start & Stop functionality.
For those seeking an electric option, the new Peugeot e-Boxer delivers 270hp and 410Nm of torque, with a 110kWh battery providing a range of up to 263 miles (WLTP). The Boxer’s load capacity has also been increased, particularly for motorhome conversions, now allowing up to five tonnes of gross vehicle weight.
The new Peugeot Boxer is available in a variety of configurations to suit professional needs, with two wheelbases and four body sizes ranging from 13-17m3. There are also single and double cab chassis options.
Exterior updates to the Boxer include a redesigned bumper, grille, and mirrors for a more robust and aerodynamic look. Inside, the van offers a range of comfort and safety features, including an electric parking brake, keyless entry and start, a 10-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone charging, driver fatigue alert, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection.
